Having ridden the 500 around a little bit, we knew it was more than capable but it still needed a few tweaks. We have already un-corked the exhaust and installed a Pro Moto Billet end cap as well as re-mapping the ECU to compensate for the mod. The stock blinker set up was removed and flush mount LED's with the EZ Fit tail section was installed from Sicass Racing. We ordered up a set of heavier .50 fork springs in order to handle the 60ft. plus jumps it would be sending here soon and knowing that we were headed to a sand track, we got a Maxxis Maxxcross SM M7308 sand/mud tire as well. Other than those minor modifications, the bike is pretty much stock.
KTM has a long standing catch phrase, "Ready to Race". We hear it all the time, but how true is it? After an extensive round table discussion (i.e. having beers after work) the plan was made. With the upcoming GP race at Riley Ranch over in Coos Bay, OR, we decided that Randy was to ride the 500 from the showroom to the track. Win the race, and ride it back home!
A true iron-man challenge.
